Lansdowne Youth Rugby was founded in 2022 by the Old Boys of Lansdowne Rugby Football Club New York, with a simple but powerful goal: to teach the next generation the game of rugby and the values that come with it. In just a short time, the program has grown into one of the fastest-growing youth rugby setups in the local area, welcoming players of all experience levels and backgrounds.

Built on decades of rugby tradition, Lansdowne Youth Rugby is led entirely by volunteer coaches who bring years of playing experience and a genuine love for the game. Our coaches are committed not only to developing rugby skills, but also to creating a positive, supportive environment where young players can grow in confidence, discipline, and teamwork.

From their very first session, young players are introduced to the fundamentals of rugby—running, passing, tackling safely, positioning, and game awareness. As they progress through the age groups, these basics are built upon with more advanced skills, fitness, and tactical understanding, helping players develop into well-rounded rugby athletes by their teenage years. Equal emphasis is placed on respect, sportsmanship, and camaraderie, which are core values of the sport.

Our hope is that some of these young ruggers will continue on to enjoy successful futures in rugby. But just as importantly, we aim for every player to leave the program with lifelong skills—teamwork, leadership, resilience, and friendships—that they can carry into their future careers and everyday lives.
